Using Presto Music Fonts
In Word Processing
After installing PrestoSymbol and PrestoFigures fonts:
- Open a word processing program.
- Type your paper in your font of choice (figures are based on a traditional serif-type font, such as Times New Roman).
- When you get to a symbol or figure you would like to insert, switch to the appropriate font.
- Type the keystroke that corresponds to the figure or symbol you would like to insert.
- When you are done inserting symbols, switch back to your typing font.

Another way to use in Word Processor
In Notation Software
In Finale™ software, you can use the fonts in any tool that allows typing. As a student, I found it frustrating that Finale™ did not allow you to place Roman Numerals and figures along with other chord indications, such as lead sheet notation.
- Place your lead sheet notation using the chord tool.
- Then, switch to the lyric tool.
- Go to Lyrics>Edit Lyrics and type in the Roman Numerals, as you would with a word processor.
- Click OK, then go to Lyrics>Click Assignment. Assign each "lyric," or Roman numeral and figure to the correct pitch by clicking that pitch.

*It is important to not have spaces within each assigned "lyric." Finale will consider them to be two lyrics.
*It is preferable to insert Roman Numerals and figures using the lyric tool. If you choose to use the text tool, when your music shifts due to spacing, etc., the figures will not move also. This results in items in the wrong places.
