About Presto Music Fonts

Welcome to Presto Music Fonts. These music fonts were created by a musician for musicians.

I am a music teacher and performer, and studied as a theorist in graduate school. While I was writing my thesis, it dawned on me that there are a lot of symbols that we, as musicians, need to express our thoughts about music clearly. I searched high and low for fonts to purchase that had these symbols, but all I could find were fonts made specifically for use with music notation software. When one types with these fonts in a word-processing program, odd things happen to the spacing between the lines of the text. People I know have claimed to be able to solve this dilemma by setting the spacing differently, but I thought, "Surely there must be an easier way!"

So, I made the "thesis" font using a shareware program. After graduate school, and after all my pals begged me for my font to use in their papers, I decided to make a full, cleaned-up version of the font to market and sell to other musicians. This full version was so in-depth that it became two full fonts: PrestoFigures and PrestoSymbol.

I drew every single character myself, using hand-picked scanned scores as a guide. I carefully considered which characters are more commonly used, so I could assign them to the keyboard. All other characters are accessible using the Alt key (PC), or a the Option key (MAC).

Why prefer standard inline text, when you can have the real symbol? Presto Music Fonts do not alter the line spacing, and are simple to use. Simply switch to the Presto Music Font, insert the symbol you want, and return to your typing font. Presto Music Fonts integrate with standard serif fonts, such as Times New Roman.

If you write about music, then you're in the right place. Presto Music Fonts make your documents so much clearer.
